Tips

If you want a good pregame lunch or breakfast close to Ed Smith Stadium, go to Gus's 12th Street Cafe. The omelet's are bigger than your head. If Gus has had any luck fishing, the grouper is fresh. The prices are reasonable. And the front door of the place is 100 yards from the home plate gate the Ed. If you're for something to do postgame, Siesta Key is place to go. The beach is best in Florida -- a long stretch of powdery white sand. Traffic can be heavy. Siesta is just south of the Ed. Take 41 and follow the signs. The sunsets are spectacular.

Reds go pink for Mother's Day
Jeff Keppinger intended to use his pink bats. His Reds teammates, who did swing with theirs, wouldn't let him. They were part of a group of more than 200 Major League players who signed up to use pink Louisville Slugger bats on Sunday to raise awareness for breast cancer.
