Nationals' contest with Astros rained out
Thursday's game between the Nationals and Astros was canceled because of rain and will not be made up. There will not be a makeup date. John Lannan and Craig Stammen were scheduled to pitch in the game, but they will now throw in simulated games.

Norris among six Nationals reassigned
The Nationals reassigned pitchers Victor Garate, Logan Kensing, Joel Peralta and Ryan Speier, catcher Derek Norris and outfielder Jerry Owens to Minor League camp on Thursday. The team also gave left-handers Shawn Estes and Eddie Guardado their unconditional releases.

Nats GM not changing plans for Strasburg
Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said Wednesday that he was impressed with Stephen Strasburg's performance in Tuesday's loss to the Tigers. However, the young phenom's performance didn't do anything to change Rizzo's plans for him.

Ailing Flores pays visit to Dr. Andrews
Nationals catcher Jesus Flores traveled to Birmingham, Ala., on Wednesday to have his ailing right shoulder examined by Dr. James Andrews. Flores will then work with Andrews' personal therapist in Alabama for at least 10 days.
