Nolasco aims to prolong strong starts
Over their last four outings, Andrew Miller, Scott Olsen, Burke Badenhop and Mark Hendrickson have combined to post a 1.86 ERA in the starter's role -- giving up five runs in 24 2/3 innings. Ricky Nolasco hopes to continue that trend.

Marlins taking early success in stride
Coming into Thursday night's game against the Brewers, the Marlins were in heady territory, even for a franchise that has won two World Series titles. This isn't a surprise to players like Dan Uggla and Mike Jacobs.

Amezaga wows teammates with D
After Alfredo Amezaga made a full-extension dive in left-center field to rob Milwaukee's Corey Hart of an extra-base hit in the second inning on Wednesday, Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez was marveling at what a great play his 5-foot-10 center fielder had just made. But Amezaga has made a habit of making such catches in the outfield.

Marlins rest hurting Jacobs
The Marlins decided not to start first baseman Mike Jacobs in Thursday night's game against the Brewers so he could rest a tight left quadriceps that he injured in the third inning of Wednesday night's game.
